Professor Wei Yang is a distinguished solid mechanician, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a Foreign Member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering. He has previously served as Director of the Office of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, Director-General of the Department of Degree Management and Graduate Education at the Ministry of Education, President of Zhejiang University, and Director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
